I provide both individual and couples psychotherapy. Various theories inform my work but conceptually I tend to favor a developmental perspective derived from Attachment Theory and Self Psychology, with a treatment approach that includes a blend of psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, cognitive behavioral, and relational models. Of all the ingredients of an effective and successful treatment, I believe the therapy relationship is paramount; a trusting relationship provides the secure foundation for an endeavor that can involve an immense amount of challenge and vulnerability.
I have experience with treating a wide range of presenting problems, including chronic and acute mental health issues. I find that I am most effective working with individuals and couples presenting with mood and anxiety disorders, issues related to chronic trauma, relationship concerns, personality disorders, developmental problems, and issues related to sexual identity and general identity development.
I do accept insurance and am a provider for most major insurance companies in Texas. I also accept out of pocket payment and will offer a sliding scale fee in some circumstances.
